Charmander is a fire-type Pokemon from the first generation of Pokemon. It evolves into Charmeleon at Level 16, then evolves into Charizard at Level 36. Along with Bulbasaur and Squirtle, Charmander is one of the three starter Pokemon of the Kanto region. The flame on its tail should never be put out as it can kill the Pokemon.

Charmander is a starter Pokemon in Pokemon Blue and Red, FireRed and LeafGreen. Charmander can be picked by the player in HeartGold and SoulSilver.
Anime[]
Charmander
In the Anime, Charmander was one of the three Pokemon Ash Ketchum tried to choose as his first Pokemon but someone had picked Charmander.
In the episode "Charmander the stray Pokemon" Ash and his friends find a stray Charmander abandoned by its owner Damien. This Charmander eventually comes over to Ash's side and would later evolve many episodes later.
Another Charmander nicknamed "Zippo" would appear later under the care of Ritchie.
